About Us

The Global ShareResource Foundation (GSRF)

The Global ShareResource Foundation (GSRF) was founded in 2001 by a small multi-racial group of professionals in New York City with diverse religious orientations whose intention was to open opportunities to underserved communities in many countries.

The GSRF holds fundraising events and sources grants for its projects. It is a 501(c)3 organization registered in New York.

Our Mission

Our mission is Helping the Poor Respond to Opportunity by partnering with nonprofit organizations whose programs are focused in providing basic education, livelihood skills training, preventive medical practices, empowering men and women in leadership, transitioning slum-dwellers to social housing and, use of water sanitation in rural areas.

Our Directors

Rev. Douglas Grandgeorge, President​

The Rev. Douglas Grandgeorge, is the pastor of the Smithfield Church in Armenia, New York. Rev. Grandgeorge is a graduate of Yale University with a Masters in Divinity at the New York Theological Seminary, and Doctoral studies in Oxford. He was pastor of Central Presbyterian on Park Avenue in New York City, the First Presbyterian Churches in Whitestone and Ozone Park. He worked as a social worker at the City of New York, working with poor, abused, and homeless children in the city. He is presently Secretary of the Board of Directors of Surgeons of Hope Foundation that provides open heart surgery to disadvantaged children with heart pathologies around the world.

Marie Luarca-Reyes, Executive Director

Marie Luarca-Reyes worked as a Manager at Citigroup Inc., New York in the Corporate Compliance and Government Regulatory Office. She co-founded and was the first executive director of the European Network of Filipino Diaspora (ENFiD), a networking association of overseas Filipinos in Europe. During her term at ENFiD she was appointed Honorary Representative to Europe of the Commission on Filipino Overseas, a government agency that supports the social needs of Filipino workers abroad. Her previous involvements were as co-founder and Board Secretary of the Maria Montessori Cooperative School, a nonprofit preparatory school; founded and managed the Artists’ Village, Inc. that assisted Filipino artists launch their artistic careers. Marie has post-graduate studies in Sociology at the New School for Social Research in New York.

Esmeralda O. Lyn, Ph.D., Treasurer

Dr. Esmeralda Lyn is in the Senior Team of Worldwide Capital Advisory Partners LLC, New York. She is Professor Emerita at Hofstra University having held the C.V. Starr Distinguished Professorship of Finance and International Financial Services from 2005 to 2011. She holds a Ph.D. in finance from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York at Baruch College, where she was awarded the Oscar Lasdon Prize for Best Dissertation. Dr. Lyn served as Vice Dean of the Frank G. Zarb School of Business, and as Chairperson of the Department of Finance. She was co-founding Director of the Merrill Lynch Center for the Study of International Financial Services and Markets; was finance officer at the United Nations; and had finance experience at Integrated Resources and Smith Barney Shearson.

Dr. Lyn’s expertise includes international finance and investments, corporate restructuring, corporate governance and socially responsible investing. She has published numerous articles in national and international academic journals and was the founding Editor-in-Chief of Corporate Finance Review published by Thomson Reuters.

Dr. Lyn serves as Board Director in several nonprofit organizations among them, the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, the Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union and the National Committee of the Cross Catholic Outreach Box of Joy Program.

Cheryl R. Lehman, Director

Now completing 36 years as Professor of Accounting at Hofstra University (NY), Dr. Lehman served on the Board of the Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR), and the Warsaw-based Network of East-West Women (NEWW). She co-founded the Gender Issues Section of the American Accounting Association and was instrumental in founding the journal, Critical Perspectives on Accounting.​

As a visiting scholar, Dr. Lehman has held positions in Australia and England and her research and advocacy venues include Canada, China, Cuba, Hungary, Japan, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Peru, Poland, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine. A recipient of numerous awards, her promotion of interdisciplinary study is highly regarded. She is currently Editor of Advances in Public Interest Accounting, on the Editorial Board for a dozen journals and has published in numerous international refereed academic journals.

Dr. Lehman has a Masters in Social Work (MSW) and is a licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) interning with incarcerated youth. Exploring knowledge creation, migration, incarceration, gender, class and ethnicity she remains on the forefront of interdisciplinary research and unconventionality as part of the critical accounting task of transformation: providing pathways for thinking differently and aspiring for change.

Dr. Tahira Homayun, Director

Tahira is a retired obstetrician and gynecologist in New York. She founded, and is the president, of the Organization for the Advancement of Afghan Women (www.OAAWonline.org). Born in Afghanistan where she studied medicine, Dr. Homayun finished her medical education in the United States, doing internships at Christ Community Hospital in Chicago and residency at Beth Israel in New York City.

Philippe Lerch, Director

Philippe Lerch was the Treasurer of Surgeons of Hope Foundation Inc. in Nicaragua, and Executive Director of the Chaîne de l’Espoir. He set up the Surgeons of Hope Foundation, Inc. in New York in 2002 and was its first Executive Director. Graduated from the Paris Business School (École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris), Phihlippe worked at the French Foreign Trade Board (CFCE) for the United States and Latin America and was Regional Director for Chargeurs Reunis in Cambodia. He was director of international projects for French banks Paribas and Société Générale, in charge of transport programmes, hotel and hospital engineering, and project development throughout Africa, South-East Asia and the Middle East. He is actively involved with SPFA – Solidarité Protestante France-Arménie, an NGO engaged in the cultural, social and economic development of the country.

Project Glimpses

Afghanistan

The Organization for the Advancement of Afghan Women (OAAW) maintains the only out-patient clinic servicing villages in the Afghanistan central region. Twelve employees run the clinic including 2 physicians, a dentist and a pharmacist. The clinic provides medical care, vaccinations, education on birth control, dental care and hygiene. Medical supplies are free. The clinic performs minor surgeries (suturing cuts, incisions, draining abscess, first degree burns and circumcision of male youths). In the summer intravenous infusions are available for dehydration. In an emergency a recently acquired ambulance takes the patient to the nearest hospital 20 miles away. Dr. Tahira Homayun, president and founder of OAAW is a director of GSRF.

Ecuador

1. GSRF initiated a Hog-raising project in Sanglia, for the indigenous community in Cuenca, Ecuador. The community constructed a pig pen complete with water drainage and storage for feeds. The initial 14 pigs grew to 94 and distributed to members to sell or keep for backyard piggery. On his farm, Rev. Douglas Grandgeorge, president of GSRF allotted a rent-free 2- acre for the project, another acre was donated as cemetery plot to the community.

2. Nuestra Señora de Fátima of the Diocese of Babayoho runs a secondary school in Babahoyo, Ecuador provides complementary vocational training to 14-20 age groups.

Nicaragua

1. Surgeons of Hope (SoH) started a pediatric hospital in 2008 to provide indigent infant and children equal opportunity to receive life-saving surgery. In partnership with the Pediatric Heart Institute of Nicaragua in La Mascota, it intends to be the regional heart center for Central America. SoH first executive director, Philippe Lerch and its board secretary, Rev. Douglas Grandgeorge, are both director and president of GSRF, respectively.

2. Sunrise Foundation founded the Luceros del Amanecer, a school providing educational and social services to at-risk children and their families in the remote village of Camoapa, Nicaragua. The school also provides three meals and after-school classes, recreation, and homework tutoring. Cheryl R. Lehman, PhD, a director of GSRF is an associate of the Sunrise Foundation.

Philippines

1. The Cartwheel Foundation is a major beneficiary of GSRF. Cartwheel focuses on children of Filipino ethnic minority empowering their indigenous heritage by providing access to quality education. Esmeralda O. Lyn, PhD, treasurer of GSRF is an associate of the foundation.

2. Sambayan Educational Foundation, Inc., another major beneficiary of GSRF, is a fund that affords deserving girls from low-income families to enter secondary education tuition-free to compete academically for excellence.

3. Bukal ng Buhay Orphanage Foundation is a temporary shelter providing street children the comforts of a home, beautiful surrounding and rudimentary learning.

4. Mater Orphanorum Servant of the Poor, an orphanage providing full scale education to abandoned or orphaned children or victims of abuse. It provides a safe and happy environment for the children to play, learn and grow to be a responsible member of the society.

5. Gawad Kalinga, a nationwide effort to provide slum dwellers decent home environment sustained by corollary livelihood skills training and community housing development.

6. Asilo de la Milagrosa, Inc., an orphanage since 1934 dedicated to caring babies, toddlers, children and female elderly.


7. Chosen Children Village Foundation, a school to educate handicapped children and providing long term placement in a healthy home and community environment.

8. Foundation of Our Lady of Peace Mission, Inc. assists 92 Aeta Minority families build a community life of self-government and a self-sustaining economic enterprise.

9. Lorenzo M. Tanada Foundation helps poor deserving college graduates to pursue graduate courses in the field of law, government, economics, science and history.

10. Mt. Carmel Foundation provides academic education to deserving scholars in the Philippines

Hope for Healthier Humanity provides technical and clinical education/training to medical, dental and nursing students and other healthcare providers in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Orphans International, assist Aceh, Indonesia, build and sustain 240 homes for Tsunami victims.

Catholic Near East Welfare Association, operates emergency relief centers in Baghdad, Basra and Mosul maintaining supplies for 40 days.

Madagascar

1. The Church of Jesus Christ in Madagascar (FJKM), engage in literacy and vocational education training, village health centers and orphanage.

2. Living Waters of the World, install, maintain water purification system and train community leaders to carry out health hygiene program.

Centre for Gender, Culture & Development of Kigali Institute of Education, engage in policy development, short term training, certificate programs, community outreach and multicultural exchange.

South Africa

Religious of the Good Shepherd in Johannesburg, operates in poor villages, providing pre-and after-school programs for teenagers during vacation.

United States

1. Cross Catholic Outreach Box of Joy, Inc. provides relief goods and housing to victims of earthquake, flood and tsunami victims.

2. Urban Technology develops financial and digital literacy skills for underserved youth.

3. All Star Code empowers young men with the skills, networks, and mindsets they need to create new futures through technology.

4. APICHA provides affordable community health care for underserved or ‘otherized’ people living in the New York City boroughs and on the lower east side of Manhattan.

5. Children’s Orchestra Society teaches children the language of music.
